Chapter 43: Gaṅgā Descends to the Earth
Text 1.43.15

ह्लादिनी पावनी चैव नलिनी च तथापरा।
तिस्रः प्राचीं दिशं जग्मुर्गङ्गाः शिवजलाः शुभाः॥

hlādinī pāvanī caiva nalinī ca tathāparā
tisraḥ
prācīṁ diśaṁ jagmur gaṅgāḥ śiva-jalāḥ śubhāḥ

hlādinī = Hlādinī; pāvanī ca eva = Pāvanī; nalinī ca tathā aparā = and Nalinī; tisraḥ = three streams; prācīm diśam = towards the east; jagmuḥ = flowed; gaṅgāḥ = of Gaṅgā; śiva-jalāḥ = with auspicious waters; śubhāḥ = shining.

Three streams of Gaṅgā—Hlādinī, Pāvanī and Nalinī—shining with auspicious waters flowed towards the east.

The sage now begins to name the seven streams of Gaṅgā and the directions they flowed towards.
