Chapter 43: Gaṅgā Descends to the Earth
Text 1.43.22
विमानैर्नगराकारैर्हयैर्गजवरैस्तदा।
पारिप्लवगतैश्चापि देवतास्तत्र विष्ठिताः॥
vimānair nagarākārair hayair gaja-varais tadā
pāriplava-gataiś cāpi devatās tatra viṣṭhitāḥ
vimānaiḥ = airships; nagara-ākāraiḥ = as large as cities; hayaiḥ = as well as their horses; gaja-varaiḥ = and excellent elephants; tadā = at that time; pāriplava-gataiḥ ca api = along with their rapidly moving; devatāḥ = the demigods; tatra = at that spot; viṣṭhitāḥ = appeared.
The demigods appeared at that spot at that time along with their rapidly moving airships as large as cities as well as their horses and excellent elephants.
