Chapter 45: The Churning of the Milk Ocean
Text 1.45.25

देवतानां भयं दृष्ट्वा श्रुत्वा वाक्यं तु शार्ङ्गिणः।
हालाहलविषं घोरं स जग्राहामृतोपमम्॥

devatānāṁ bhayaṁ dṛṣṭvā śrutvā vākyaṁ tu śārṅgiṇaḥ
hālāhala-viṣaṁ
ghoraṁ sa jagrāhāmṛtopamam

devatāṇām = the demigods’; bhayam = fear; dṛṣṭvā = noticing; śrutvā = and hearing; vākyam tu = the instructions; śārṅgiṇaḥ = of Lord Śārṅgī (Viṣṇu); hālāhala-viṣam = poison hālāhala; ghoram = the terrible; saḥ = Lord Śiva; jagrāha = drank up; amṛta-upamam = as if it were nectar.

Noticing the demigods’ fear and hearing the instructions of Lord Śārṅgī (Viṣṇu), Lord Śiva drank up the terrible poison hālāhala as if it were nectar.
