Chapter 49: Lord Rāmacandra Delivers Ahalyā
Text 1.49.19

राघवौ त्वतिथी तस्याः पादौ जगृहतुस्तदा।
स्मरन्ती गौतमवचः प्रतिजग्राह सा च तौ॥

rāghavau tv atithī tasyāḥ pādau jagṛhatus tadā
smarantī
gautama-vacaḥ pratijagrāha ca tau

rāghavau tu = the two descendants of Raghu; atithī = her guests; tasyāḥ pādau = her feet; jagṛhatuḥ = touched; tadā = then; smarantī = remembering; gautama-vacaḥ = Gautama’s words; pratijagrāha ca tau = she worshipfully touched Them.

The two descendants of Raghu, her guests, then touched her feet. Remembering Gautama’s words, she worshipfully touched Them.

Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa touched her feet since she was the wife of a senior sage.1 She remembered her husband’s words noted in text 35.

1 Note that Lord Rāma is very respectful to her even though she had previously committed a terrible blunder.
