Chapter 50: King Janaka Meets Viśvāmitra
Text 1.50.11
जनकस्य वचः श्रुत्वा निषसाद महामुनिः।
पुरोधा ऋत्विजश्चैव राजा च सह मन्त्रिभिः॥
janakasya vacaḥ śrutvā niṣasāda mahā-muniḥ
purodhā ṛtvijaś caiva rājā ca saha mantribhiḥ
janakasya = Janaka’s; vacaḥ = words; śrutvā = hearing; niṣasāda = sat down; mahā-muniḥ = the great sage; purodhāḥ = the priest; ṛtvijaḥ ca eva = sacrificial priests; rājā ca = the king; saha mantribhiḥ = and the ministers [sat down on the instructions of Viśvāmitra].
Hearing Janaka’s words, the great sage sat down. The priest, sacrificial priests, the king and the ministers [sat down on the instructions of Viśvāmitra].
