Chapter 55: King Viśvāmitra Obtains Divine Weapons
Text 1.55.11
स पुत्रमेकं राज्याय पालयेति नियुज्य च।
पृथिवीं क्षत्रधर्मेण वनमेवान्वपद्यत॥
sa putram ekaṁ rājyāya pālayeti niyujya ca
pṛthivīṁ kṣatra-dharmeṇa vanam evānvapadyata
saḥ = he; putram ekam = to his one remaining son; rājyāya = his kingdom to rule; pālaya iti = rule; niyujya ca = gave and instructed him; pṛthivīm = the earth; kṣatra-dharmeṇa = in accordance with the dharma of a kṣatriya; vanam eva = to the forest; anvapadyata = then, he retired.
He gave his kingdom to his one remaining son to rule, and instructed him, “Rule the earth in accordance with the dharma of a kṣatriya.” Then, he retired to the forest.
