तस्या हुंभारवाज्जाताः काम्भोजा रविसन्निभाः।
ऊधसश्चाथ सञ्जाताः पप्लवाः शस्त्रपाणयः॥
योनिदेशाच्च यवनाः शकृद्देशाच्छकास्तथाः।
रोमकूपेषु च म्लेच्छा हारीताः सकिरातकाः॥
tasyā huṁbhā-ravāj jātāḥ kāmbhojā ravi-sannibhāḥ
ūdhasaś cātha sañjātāḥ paplavāḥ śastra-pāṇayaḥ
yoni-deśāc ca yavanāḥ śakṛd-deśāc chakās tathā
roma-kūpeṣu ca mlecchā hārītāḥ sakirātakāḥ
tasyāḥ huṁbhā-ravāt = from the sound of her roar; jātāḥ = appeared; kāmbhojāḥ = the kāmbhojas; ravi-sannibhāḥ = resembling the sun; ūdhasaḥ ca atha sañjātāḥ = from her udders appeared; paplavāḥ = the paplavas; śastra-pāṇayaḥ = with weapons in hand; yoni-deśāt ca = from her womb appeared; yavanāḥ = the yavanas; śakṛd-deśāc = from her anus; śakāḥ tathā = the śakas; roma-kūpeṣu ca = from the pores of her skin; mlecchāḥ = the mlecchas; hārītāḥ = hārītas; sakirātakāḥ = and kirātas.
From the sound of her roar, the kāmbhojas resembling the sun appeared. From her udders appeared the paplavas with weapons in hand. From her womb appeared the yavanas, from her anus, the śakas, from the pores of her skin, the mlecchas, hārītas and kirātas.
Hārītas constitute a subbranch of the kirāta race.
