Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 62: Śunaḥśepa Saved
Text 1.62.4

न मेऽस्ति माता न पिता ज्ञातयो बान्धवाः कुतः।
त्रातुमर्हसि मां सौम्य धर्मेण मुनिपुङ्गव॥

na me ‘sti mātā na pitā jñātayo bāndhavāḥ kutaḥ
trātum
arhasi māṁ saumya dharmeṇa muni-puṅgava

na = neither; me asti = I havee; mātā = a mother; na = nor; pitā = a father; jñātayaḥ = relatives; bāndhavāḥ = or friends; kutaḥ = what to speak of; trātum = protect; arhasi = you should; mām = me; saumya = O gentle one; dharmeṇa = with a view to procuring piety; muni-puṅgava = O best of sages.

O gentle one, O best of sages, I have neither a mother nor a father, what to speak of relatives or friends. You should protect me with a view to procuring piety.

Śunaḥśepa considered that because his mother, father, relatives and friends did not protect him [from being sacrificed], they were as good as nonexistent.
