Chapter 63: Viśvāmitra Falls Prey to Lust
Text 1.63.2

अब्रवीत्सुमहातेजा ब्रह्मा सुरुचिरं वचः।
ऋषिस्त्वमसि भद्रं ते स्वार्जितैः कर्मभिः शुभैः॥

abravīt sumahātejā brahmā suruciraṁ vacaḥ
ṛṣis
tvam asi bhadraṁ te svārjitaiḥ karmabhiḥ śubhaiḥ

abravīt = spoke; sumahātejāḥ = the extremely greatly powerful; brahmā = Brahmā; su-ruciram = these very pleasing; vacaḥ = words; ṛṣiḥ = a ṛṣi; tvam asi = you have become; bhadram te = auspiciousness unto you; svārjitaiḥ karmabhiḥ śubhaiḥ = by performing auspicious activities.

The extremely greatly powerful Brahmā spoke these very pleasing words: Auspiciousness unto you. By performing auspicious activities, you have become a ṛṣi.

Lord Brahmā wanted to point out that Viśvāmitra’s previous austerities earned him the position of a rājarṣi, a saintly king. But now Viśvāmitra had earned the position of a ṛṣi, not a rājarṣi. It can be inferred that he was now somewhat freed from his kṣatriya nature.
