अयं सुरपते घोरो विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः।
क्रोधमुत्सृजते घोरं मयि देव न संशयः।
ततो हि मे भयं देव प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि॥
ayaṁ sura-pate ghoro viśvāmitro mahā-muniḥ
krodham utsṛjate ghoraṁ mayi deva na saṁśayaḥ
tato hi me bhayaṁ deva prasādaṁ kartum arhasi
ayam = this; sura-pate = O master of the celestials; ghoraḥ = is terrible; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; mahā-muniḥ = great sage; krodham = anger; utsṛjate = he will release; ghoram = his terrible; mayi = upon me; deva = O Lord; na saṁśayaḥ = undoubtedly; tataḥ hi me bhayam = I am afraid of his anger; deva = O Lord; prasādam kartum arhasi = please be kind to me.
O master of the celestials, this great sage Viśvāmitra is terrible. O Lord, he will undoubtedly release his terrible anger upon me. I am afraid of his anger. O Lord, please be kind to me.
“Please be kind to me” means “Please desist from employing me in this task.”
