Chapter 66: The History of Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.66.24
ततो देवगणान्सर्वांस्तपसाहं प्रसादयम्।
ददुश्च परमप्रीताश्चतुरङ्गबलं सुराः॥
tato deva-gaṇān sarvāṁs tapasāhaṁ prasādayam
daduś ca parama-prītāś catur-aṅga-balaṁ surāḥ
tataḥ = then; deva-gaṇān sarvān = all the devas; tapasā = through austerity; aham = I; prasādayam = satisfied; daduḥ ca = gave me; parama-prītāḥ = greatly pleased [with me]; catur-aṅga-balam = an army of infantry, cavalry, elephants and chariots; surāḥ = the demigods.
Then I satisfied all the devas through austerity. Greatly pleased [with me], the demigods gave me an army of infantry, cavalry, elephants and chariots.
