Chapter 66: The History of Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.66.9
दक्षयज्ञवधे पूर्वं धनुरायम्य वीर्यवान्।
रुद्रस्तु त्रिदशान्रोषात्सलीलमिदमब्रवीत्॥
dakṣa-yajña-vadhe pūrvaṁ dhanur āyamya vīryavān
rudras tu tridaśān roṣāt salīlam idam abravīt
dakṣa-yajña-vadhe = at the time of the destruction of Dakṣa’s sacrifice; pūrvam = in the past; dhanuḥ āyamya = stretched his bow and; vīryavān = the heroic; rudraḥ tu Lord Rudra; tridaśān = the demigods; roṣāt = in anger; salīlam = easily; idam = the following words; abravīt = spoke.
In the past, at the time of the destruction of Dakṣa’s sacrifice, the heroic Lord Rudra easily stretched his bow and spoke to the demigods the following words in anger.
