Chapter 68: Daśaratha Delighted
Text 1.68.3
ते राजवचनाद्दूता राजवेश्म प्रवेशिताः।
ददृशुर्देवसङ्काशं वृद्धं दशरथं नृपम्॥
te rāja-vacanād dūtā rāja-veśma praveśitāḥ
dadṛśur deva-saṅkāśaṁ vṛddhaṁ daśarathaṁ nṛpam
te = the; rāja-vacanāt = on hearing that they had been sent to Ayodhyā by King Janaka; dūtāḥ = messengers; rāja-veśma = the king’s residence; praveśitāḥ = were brought inside; dadṛśuḥ = and they saw; deva-saṅkāśam = appearing like a celestial; vṛddham = old; daśaratham nṛpam = the King Daśaratha.
On hearing that they had been sent to Ayodhyā by King Janaka, the messengers were brought inside the king’s residence and they saw the old King Daśaratha appearing like a celestial.
