Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.6

विद्याविनीता ह्रीमन्तः कुशला नियतेन्द्रियाः।
परस्परानुरक्ताश्च नीतिमन्तो बहुश्रुताः।
श्रीमन्तश्च महात्मानः शास्त्रज्ञा दृढविक्रमाः॥

vidyā-vinītā hrīmantaḥ kuśalā niyatendriyāḥ
parasparānuraktāś ca nītimanto bahu-śrutāḥ
śrīmantaś ca mahātmānaḥ śāstra-jñā dṛḍha-vikramāḥ

vidyā-vinītāḥ = they were learned in logic and other subjects; hrīmantaḥ = embarrassed to engage in forbidden activities; kuśalāḥ = capable in political affairs; niyata-indriyāḥ = desisting from sense objects not prescribed for them; paraspara-anuraktāḥ ca = mutually affectionate; nītimantaḥ = moral; bahu-śrutāḥ = vastly learned; śrīmantaḥ ca = prosperous; mahā-ātmānaḥ = greatly intelligent; śāstrajñāḥ = learned in the scriptures on politics; dṛḍha-vikramāḥ = and with unimpeded prowess.

They were learned in logic and other subjects, embarrassed to engage in forbidden activities, capable in political affairs, desisting from sense objects not prescribed for them, mutually affectionate, moral, vastly learned, prosperous, greatly intelligent, learned in the scriptures on politics and and with unimpeded prowess.

The sage Vālmīki describes the excellent qualities of these ministers till the end of this chapter.
