Chapter 70: Rāma’s Noble Lineage
Text 1.70.15
स राजा मन्त्रिसहितः सोपाध्यायः सबान्धवः।
वाक्यं वाक्यविदां श्रेष्ठो वैदेहमिदमब्रवीत्॥
sa rājā mantri-sahitaḥ sopādhyāyaḥ sabāndhavaḥ
vākyaṁ vākyavidāṁ śreṣṭho vaideham idam abravīt
saḥ rājā = the king; mantri-sahitaḥ = accompanied by his ministers; sa-upādhyāyaḥ = gurus; sa-bāndhavaḥ = and relatives; vākyam = words; vākyavidām śreṣṭhaḥ = the best of those skilled in speech; vaideham = to Vaideha (King Janaka); idam = the following; abravīt = then spoke.
The king, the best of those skilled in speech, accompanied by his ministers, gurus and relatives, then spoke the following words to Vaideha (King Janaka).
