Chapter 70: Rāma’s Noble Lineage
Text 1.70.4

तमहं द्रष्टुमिच्छामि यज्नगोप्ता स मे मतः।
प्रीतिं सोऽपि महातेजा इमां भोक्ता मया सह॥

tam ahaṁ draṣṭum icchāmi yajna-goptā sa me mataḥ
prītiṁ
so ‘pi mahā-tejā imāṁ bhoktā mayā saha

tam = him; aham = I; draṣṭum = to see; icchāmi = I would like; yajna-goptā saḥ = him to be the protector of my sacrifice; me mataḥ = I consider; prītim = the happiness; saḥ = that; api = also; mahā-tejāḥ = one of great prowess; imām = of this occasion; bhoktā = should also enjoy; mayā = me; saha = with.

I would like to see him. I consider him to be the protector of my sacrifice. That one of great prowess should also enjoy the happiness of this occasion with me.

Even though Kuśadhvaja resided at Sāṅkāśyā, he sent the ingredients for Janaka’s sacrifice. Janaka wanted him to also enjoy the happiness of the auspicious wedding to take place.
