Chapter 72: Daśaratha’s Charity Before the Wedding
Text 1.72.10

कुलं धन्यमिदं मन्ये येषां नो मुनिपुङ्गवौ।
सदृशं कुलसम्बन्धं यदाज्ञापयथः स्वयम्॥

kulaṁ dhanyam idaṁ manye yeṣāṁ no muni-puṅgavau
sadṛśaṁ
kula-sambandhaṁ yad ājñāpayathaḥ svayam

kulam dhanyam idam manye = I consider that our dynasty is fortunate; yeṣām naḥ = us; muni-puṅgavau = two excellent sages; sadṛśam = a dynasty similar to us; kula-sambandham = to establish a relationship with the Ikṣvāku dynasty; yat = for; ājñāpayathaḥ = are ordering; svayam = personally.

I consider that our dynasty is fortunate for two excellent sages are personally ordering us to establish a relationship with the Ikṣvāku dynasty, a dynasty similar to us.

King Janaka considered it significant that the sages Vasiṣṭha and Viśvāmitra personally ordered him in this regard instead of conveying the same through their disciples.
