Chapter 73: The Grand Wedding of Sītā and Rāma
Text 1.73.15
कः स्थितः प्रतिहारो मे कस्याज्ञा सम्प्रतीक्षते।
स्वगृहे को विचारोऽस्ति यथा राज्यमिदं तव॥
kaḥ sthitaḥ pratihāro me kasyājñā sampratīkṣate
sva-gṛhe ko vicāro ’sti yathā rājyam idaṁ tava
kaḥ = which; sthitaḥ = is standing [and preventing you from coming]; pratihāraḥ = gatekeeper; me = of mine; kasya = whose; ājñā =order; sampratīkṣate = are you waiting for; sva-gṛhe = in your own home; kaḥ vicāraḥ asti = what is the need to consider all this; yathā = like; rājyam = kingdom; idam = for this is; tava = your.
Which gatekeeper of mine is standing [and preventing you from coming?] Whose order are you waiting for? What is the need to consider all this in your own home, for this is like your kingdom?
King Janaka wondered by King Daśaratha didn’t come quickly to the wedding platform. After all, he considered that his kingdom was Daśaratha’s.
