Chapter 73: The Grand Wedding of Sītā and Rāma
Text 1.73.44
ननृतुश्चाप्सरसङ्घा गन्धर्वाश्च जगुः कलम्।
विवाहे रघुमुख्यानां तदद्भुतमदृश्यत॥
nanṛtuś cāpsara-saṅghā gandharvāś ca jaguḥ kalam
vivāhe raghu-mukhyānāṁ tad adbhutam adṛśyata
nanṛtuḥ ca apsara-saṅghāḥ = apsarās danced; gandharvāḥ ca jaguḥ kalam = and gandharvas sang sweetly; vivāhe = at the wedding; raghu-mukhyānām = of the best of the Raghus; tat = these celestial performances; adbhutam = astonishing; adṛśyata = were to see.
Apsarās danced and gandharvas sang sweetly at the wedding of the best of the Raghus. These celestial performances were astonishing to see.
From the next verse, it is pointed out that the lāja-homa ceremony was conducted and that the couples circumambulated their respective sacred fires thrice.
