भार्गवाणां कुले जातः स्वाध्यायव्रतशालिनाम्।
सहस्राक्षे प्रतिज्ञाय शस्त्रं निक्षिप्तवानसि॥
bhārgavāṇāṁ kule jātaḥ svādhyāya-vrata-śālinām
sahasrākṣe pratijñāya śastraṁ nikṣiptavān asi
bhārgavāṇām = of the Bhārgavas; kule = in the dynasty; jātaḥ = born; svādhyāya-vrata-śālinām = who are habituated to Vedic study and vows; sahasra-akṣe = in the presence of the thousand-eyed Indra; pratijñāya = you have promised [to abandon weaponry and]; śastram = weaponry; nikṣiptavān asi = you have abandoned.
Born in the dynasty of the Bhārgavas who are habituated to Vedic study and vows, you have promised in the presence of the thousand-eyed Indra [to abandon weaponry and] you have abandoned weaponry.
