ते चापि पौरा नृपतेर्वचस्तच्छ्रुत्वा तदा लाभमिवेष्टमाशु।
नरेन्द्रमामन्त्र्य गृहाणि गत्वा देवान्समानर्चुरभिप्रहृष्टाः॥
te cāpi paurā nṛpater vacas tac
chrutvā tadā lābham iveṣṭam āśu
narendram āmantrya gṛhāṇi gatvā
devān samānarcur abhiprahṛṣṭāḥ
te ca = the; api = also; paurāḥ = residents of the city; nṛpateḥ = king’s; vacaḥ tat = the words; śrutvā tadā = upon hearing; lābham = an all-encompassing gain [for them]; iva = considering it to be; iṣṭam = and much cherished; āśu = quickly; nara-indram = the king; āmantrya = congratulated [for his decision]; gṛhāṇi = for their homes; gatvā = departed; devān = the devas [to remove obstacles to Rāma’s coronation as the crown prince]; samānarcuḥ = and worshipped; abhiprahṛṣṭāḥ = with great delight.
Upon hearing the king’s words, the residents of the city also, considering it to be an all-encompassing and much cherished gain [for them], quickly congratulated the king [for his decision], departed for their homes with great delight and worshipped the devas [to remove obstacles to Rāma’s coronation as the crown prince].
