Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.17
अपि चाद्याशुभान्राम स्वप्ने पश्यामि दारुणान्।
सनिर्घाता दिवोल्का च पततीह महास्वना॥
api cādyāśubhān rāma svapne paśyāmi dāruṇān
sanirghātā divolkā ca patatīha mahā-svanā
api ca = moreover; adya = today; aśubhān = portending inauspiciousness; rāma = Rāma; svapne = in my dream; paśyāmi = I saw; dāruṇān = frightening events; sanirghātā = accompanied by cloudless lightning; diva-ulkā = a meteor; ca = also; patati = falls; iha = here; mahā-svanā = of great sound.
Moreover, today I saw in my dream frightening events portending inauspiciousness. Rāma, a meteor of great sound accompanied by cloudless lightning also falls here.
He saw frightening events portending inauspiciousness like the embrance of a dark blue complexioned woman.
