Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.29
प्रविश्य चात्मनो वेश्म राज्ञोद्दिष्टेऽभिषेचने।
तत्क्षणेन च निर्गम्य मातुरन्तःपुरं ययौ॥
praviśya cātmano veśma rājñoddiṣṭe ’bhiṣecane
tat-kṣaṇena ca nirgamya mātur antaḥ-puraṁ yayau
praviśya ca = having entered; ātmanaḥ = His; veśma = home; rājñā = by the king; uddiṣṭe = as instructed; abhiṣecane = to inform [Sītā-devī] about the coronation; tat-kṣaṇena = immediately; ca = and; nirgamya = [upon not finding her there,] He left His home and; mātuḥ = to His mother’s; antaḥ-puram = inner quarter; yayau = went.
Having entered His home to inform [Sītā-devī] about the coronation as instructed by the king, and [upon not finding her there,] He immediately left His home and went to His mother’s inner quarter.
