Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.39
वत्स राम चिरं जीव हतास्ते परिपन्थिनः।
ज्ञातीन्मे त्वं श्रिया युक्तः सुमित्रायाश्च नन्दय॥
vatsa rāma ciraṁ jīva hatās te paripanthinaḥ
jñātīn me tvaṁ śriyā yuktaḥ sumitrāyāś ca nandaya
vatsa = child; rāma = Rāma; ciram jīva = may You live long; hatāḥ te = may be destroyed; paripanthinaḥ = Your obstacles; jñātīn = friends; me = me; tvam = Your; śriyā = with prosperity; yuktaḥ = endowed; sumitrāyāḥ ca = and Sumitrā; nandaya = may You please.
Child Rāma, may You live long. May Your obstacles be destroyed. Endowed with prosperity, may You please Your friends, me and Sumitrā.
