Text 2.6.14
नटनर्तकसङ्घानां गायकानां च गायताम्।
मनःकर्णसुखा वाचः शुश्रुवुश्च ततस्ततः॥
naṭa-nartaka-saṅghānāṁ gāyakānāṁ ca gāyatām
manaḥ-karṇa-sukhā vācaḥ śuśruvuś ca tatas tataḥ
naṭa-nartaka-saṅghānām = amidst assemblies of actors and dancers; gāyakānām ca = by singers; gāyatām = sung; manaḥ-karṇa-sukhāḥ = that gave pleasure to their ears and minds; vācaḥ = the songs; śuśruvuḥ ca = the people heard; tataḥ tataḥ = all over Ayodhyā.
All over Ayodhyā, the people heard the songs sung by singers amidst assemblies of actors and dancers that gave pleasure to their ears and minds.
As soon as the people heard the singing, they became happy and then their hearts became delighted. This is like the happiness [felt by Sītā-devī when Hanumān sang about Lord Rāma in Laṅkā]:
evaṁ bahu-vidhāṁ cintāṁ cintayitvā mahā-kapiḥ
saṁśrave madhuraṁ vākyaṁ vaidehyā vyājahāra ha
“Having thus considered [the proper course of action] in many ways, the great monkey Hanumān uttered words sweet for Vaidehī to hear.” (Rāmāyaṇa 5.31.1)
