Chapter 7: Mantharā Instructs Kaikeyī to Stop the Coronation
Text 2.7.29
पापेनानृतसान्त्वेन बाले नित्यसुखोचिते।
रामं स्थापयता राज्ये सानुबन्धा हता ह्यसि॥
pāpenānṛta-sāntvena bāle nitya-sukhocite
rāmaṁ sthāpayatā rājye sānubandhā hatā hy asi
pāpena = by that sinful; anṛta-sāntvena = and deceitful one of sweet speech; bāle = my dear girl; nitya-sukha-ucite = who always deserves to be happy; rāmam = Rāma; sthāpayatā = who is [now] coronating; rājye = as the crown prince of the kingdom; sa-anubandhā = and your people; hatā hi = destroyed; asi = you have been.
My dear girl who always deserves to be happy, you and your people have been destroyed by that sinful and deceitful one of sweet speech who is [now] coronating Rāma as the crown prince of the kingdom.
“Your people” refers to Kaikeyī’s son, friends and so on.
