Chapter 7: Mantharā Instructs Kaikeyī to Stop the Coronation
Text 2.7.31
मन्थराया वचः श्रुत्वा शयाना सा शुभानना।
उत्तस्थौ हर्षसम्पूर्णा चन्द्रलेखेव शारदी॥
mantharāyā vacaḥ śrutvā śayānā sā śubhānanā
uttasthau harṣa-sampūrṇā candra-lekheva śāradī
mantharāyāḥ = Mantharā’s; vacaḥ = words; śrutvā = upon hearing; śayānā = and who had been lying down; sā = Kaikeyī; śubha-ānanā = whose face was beautiful; uttasthau = got up; harṣa-sampūrṇā = she was completely filled with delight; candra-lekhā = the digit of the moon; iva = like; śāradī = autumnal.
Upon hearing Mantharā’s words, Kaikeyī, whose face was beautiful and who had been lying down, got up. She was completely filled with delight like the digit of the autumnal moon.
