Chapter 7: Mantharā Instructs Kaikeyī to Stop the Coronation
Text 2.7.33

दत्त्वा त्वाभरणं तस्यै कुब्जायै प्रमदोत्तमा।
कैकेयी मन्थरां दृष्ट्वा पुनरेवाब्रवीदिदम्॥

dattvā tv ābharaṇaṁ tasyai kubjāyai pramadottamā
kaikeyī mantharāṁ dṛṣṭvā punar evābravīd idam

dattvā tu = having gifted; ābharaṇam = her ornament; tasyai = to the; kubjāyai = hunchback; pramadā-uttamā = that most beautiful woman; kaikeyī = Kaikeyī; mantharām = Mantharā; dṛṣṭvā = saw and; punaḥ eva = again; abravīt = spoke; idam = as follows.

Having gifted her ornament to the hunchback, that most beautiful woman Kaikeyī saw Mantharā and again spoke as follows.

Though Mantharā’s words were empowered by the devas, because Kaikeyī was born in a great dynasty, she had a good nature and so she considered Rāma’s coronation to be for her good. Therefore she spoke texts 34 to 36
