Chapter 9: Kaikeyī Convinced by Mantharā
Text 2.9.39
त्वमेव तु ममार्थेषु नित्ययुक्ता हितैषिणी।
नाहं समवबुध्येयं कुब्जे राज्ञश्चिकीर्षितम्॥
tvam eva tu mamārtheṣu nitya-yuktā hitaiṣiṇī
nāhaṁ samavabudhyeyaṁ kubje rājñaś cikīrṣitam
tvam = you; eva tu = alone; mama = my; artheṣu = to fulfill purposes; nitya-yuktā = have always been with me; hita-eṣiṇī = as my well-wisher; na = not; aham = I; samavabudhyeyam = was aware; kubje = O hunchback; rājñaḥ = of the king’s; cikīrṣitam = plan of action.
You alone have always been with me to fulfill my purposes as my well-wisher. O hunchback, I was not aware of the king’s plan of action.
