Chapter 9: Kaikeyī Convinced by Mantharā
Text 2.9.45
आसन्याश्शंबरे मायाः सहस्रमसुराधिपे।
सर्वास्त्वयि निविष्टास्ता भूयश्चान्याः सहस्रशः॥
āsan yāḥ śambare māyāḥ sahasram asurādhipe
sarvās tvayi niviṣṭās tā bhūyaś cānyāḥ sahasraśaḥ
āsan = were; yāḥ = that; śambare = Śambara; māyāḥ = powers of deception; sahasram = of the thousand; asura-adhipe = in the ruler of asuras; sarvāḥ = all; tvayi = you; niviṣṭāḥ tāḥ = have entered; bhūyaḥ = more than; ca = as well as; anyāḥ = of other powers; sahasraśaḥ = thousands.
All of the thousand powers of deception that were in the ruler of asuras Śambara, as well as more than thousands of other powers, have entered you.
“Other powers” refers to powers [of deception commonly] found in [this] world.
