Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.7
तया तान्यपविद्धानि माल्यान्याभरणानि च।
अशोभयन्त वसुधां नक्षत्राणि यथा नभः॥
tayā tāny apaviddhāni mālyāny ābharaṇāni ca
aśobhayanta vasudhāṁ nakṣatrāṇi yathā nabhaḥ
tayā = by her; tāni = the; apaviddhāni = thrown away; mālyāni = necklaces; ābharaṇāni = ornaments; ca = and; aśobhayanta = beautified; vasudhām = the ground; nakṣatrāṇi = the stars; yathā = as; nabhaḥ = [beautify] the sky.
The necklaces and ornaments thrown away by her beautified the ground just as the stars [beautify] the sky.
The author now describes the necklaces and ornaments to point out that they were scattered [all over the ground].
