Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.6

ततश्चित्राणि माल्यानि दिव्यान्याभरणानि च।
अपविद्धानि कैकेय्या तानि भूमिं प्रपेदिरे॥

tataś citrāṇi mālyāni divyāny ābharaṇāni ca
apaviddhāni kaikeyyā tāni bhūmiṁ prapedire

tataḥ = then; citrāṇi = colorful; mālyāni = necklaces; divyāni = divine; ābharaṇāni = ornaments; ca = and; apaviddhāni = thrown away; kaikeyyā = by Kaikeyī; tāni = the; bhūmim = on the ground; prapedire = fell.

Then the colorful necklaces and divine ornaments thrown away by Kaikeyī fell on the ground.

Sage Vālmīki now shows that she threw away the ornaments and so on the ground, as described previously, in a spirit of indifference. She did not place them in the casket [in which they are meant to be placed]. She threw them away on the ground to indicate her excessive anger.
