Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.22
तत्र तां पतितां भूमौ शयानामतथोचिताम्।
प्रतप्त इव दुःखेन सोऽपश्यज्जगतीपतिः॥
tatra tāṁ patitāṁ bhūmau śayānām atathocitām
pratapta iva duḥkhena so ’paśyaj jagatī-patiḥ
tatra = in the house of anger; tām = her; patitām = fallen; bhūmau = on the ground; śayānām = lying; atathā-ucitām = [but] she did not deserve to have done so; prataptaḥ = became tormented; iva = as if; duḥkhena = by distress; saḥ = and he; apaśyat = then saw; jagatī-patiḥ = the master of the world.
Then the master of the world saw her lying fallen on the ground in the house of anger, [but] she did not deserve to have done so, and he became as if tormented by distress.
