Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.21

प्रतिहार्या वचः श्रुत्वा राजा परमदुर्मनाः।
विषसाद पुनर्भूयो लुलितव्याकुलेन्द्रियः॥

pratihāryā vacaḥ śrutvā rājā parama-durmanāḥ
viṣasāda punar bhūyo lulita-vyākulendriyaḥ

pratihāryāḥ = of the doorwoman; vacaḥ = the words; śrutvā = hearing; rājā = the king; parama-durmanāḥ = became extremely sad; viṣasāda = he became dejected; punaḥ = again; bhūyaḥ = but even more so; lulita-vyākula-indriyaḥ = his agitated senses shaking all the while.

Hearing the words of the doorwoman, the king became extremely sad. He again became dejected, but even more so, his agitated senses shaking all the while.

Daśaratha became more dejected by hearing that Kaikeyī had entered the house of anger than when he was dejected when he hadn’t seen her. His agitated [knowledge-acquiring] senses shook all the while and became incapable of perceiving their respective sense objects.
