Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.26
महागज इवारण्ये स्नेहात्परिममर्श ताम्॥
mahā-gaja ivāraṇye snehāt parimamarśa tām
mahā-gajaḥ = a great elephant; iva = like; araṇye = in a forest; snehāt = out of affection; parimamarśa = he touched; tām = her.
Like a great elephant in a forest, he touched her out of affection.
GLOSS. [King Daśaratha touched her] just as a great elephant [touches] a she elephant.
