Chapter 11: Kaikeyī Demands two Boons
Text 2.11.20

तौ तु दत्तौ वरौ देव निक्षेपौ मृगयाम्यहम्।
तवैव पृथिवीपाल सकाशे सत्यसङ्गर॥

tau tu dattau varau deva nikṣepau mṛgayāmy aham
tavaiva pṛthivī-pāla sakāśe satya-saṅgara

tau tu = those two; dattau = you had granted me; varau = boons; deva = O king; nikṣepau = that I had set aside for the time being; mṛgayāmi = now seek; aham = I; tava eva = you; pṛthivī-pāla = O ruler of the earth; sakāśe = from; satya-saṅgara = truthful to your promises.

O king truthful to your promises, O ruler of the earth, I now seek from you those two boons you had granted me that I had set aside for the time being.1

 

1 Kaikeyī had told Daśaratha that she would ask him for those boons when the need arises. See Rāmāyaṇa 2.9.18.
