Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.39
यदि दत्त्वा वरौ राजन्पुनः प्रत्यनुतप्यसे।
धार्मिकत्वं कथं वीर पृथिव्यां कथयिष्यसि॥
yadi dattvā varau rājan punaḥ pratyanutapyase
dhārmikatvaṁ kathaṁ vīra pṛthivyāṁ kathayiṣyasi
yadi = if; dattvā = having granted me; varau = two boons; rājan = O king; punaḥ = then; pratyanutapyase = you regret about it; dhārmikatvam = as being devoted to Vedic dharma; katham = how; vīra = O hero; pṛthivyām = in this world; kathayiṣyasi = can you present yourself.
O king, O hero, having granted me two boons, if you then regret about it, how can you present yourself as being devoted to Vedic dharma in this world?
