Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.59
कुतो वा ते भयं जातं या त्वमेवंविधं वरम्।
राष्ट्रे भरतमासीनं वृणीषे राघवं वने॥
kuto vā te bhayaṁ jātaṁ yā tvam evaṁ-vidhaṁ varam
rāṣṭre bharatam āsīnaṁ vṛṇīṣe rāghavaṁ vane
kutaḥ vā = from where; te = in you; bhayam = has this fear; jātam = appeared; yā = that; tvam = you; evam-vidham = the; varam = boons; rāṣṭre = to rule the kingdom; bharatam = Bharata; āsīnam = to seat [on the throne]; vṛṇīṣe = are demanding that I grant you; rāghavam = and to [send] Rāma; vane = to the forest.
From where has this fear appeared in you that you are demanding that I grant you the boons to seat Bharata [on the throne] to rule the kingdom and to [send] Rāma to the forest?
