Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.73
कृपणं बत वैदेही श्रोष्यति द्वयमप्रियम्।
मां च पञ्चत्वमापन्नं रामं च वनमाश्रितम्॥
kṛpaṇaṁ bata vaidehī śroṣyati dvayam apriyam
māṁ ca pañcatvam āpannaṁ rāmaṁ ca vanam āśritam
kṛpaṇam = how difficult it is that; bata = alas; vaidehī = Vaidehī; śroṣyati = will hear; dvayam = about the two; apriyam = displeasing boons; mām ca pañcatvam āpannam = my death; rāmam = Rāma’s; ca = and; vanam = in the forest; āśritam = residence.
Alas, how difficult it is that Vaidehī will hear about the two displeasing boons, my death and Rāma’s residence in the forest!
