Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.75
न हि राममहं दृष्ट्वा प्रविशन्तं महावने।
चिरं जीवितुमाशंसे रुदन्तीं चापि मैथिलीम्॥
na hi rāmam ahaṁ dṛṣṭvā praviśantaṁ mahā-vane
ciraṁ jīvitum āśaṁse rudantīṁ cāpi maithilīm
na hi = not; rāmam = Rāma; aham = I; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; praviśantam = enter; mahā-vane = the great forest; ciram = any longer; jīvitum = to live; āśaṁse = will want; rudantīm = crying; ca api = and; maithilīm = Maithilī.
Upon seeing Rāma enter the great forest and Maithilī crying, I will not want to live any longer.
