Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.78
अनृतैबहु मां सान्त्वैः सान्त्वयन्ती स्म भाषसे।
गीतशब्देन संरुद्ध्य लुब्धो मृगमिवावधीः॥
anṛtair bahu māṁ sāntvaiḥ sāntvayantī sma bhāṣase
gīta-śabdena saṁruddhya lubdho mṛgam ivāvadhīḥ
anṛtaiḥ = false; bahu = a lot; mām = me; sāntvaiḥ = and sweet words; sāntvayantī = while appeasing; sma bhāṣase = you have spoken; gīta-śabdena = with the sound of a song; saṁruddhya = who obstructs; lubdhaḥ = the hunter; mṛgam = a deer; iva = like; avadhīḥ = you have killed.
While appeasing me a lot, you have spoken false and sweet words. You have killed me like the hunter who obstructs a deer with the sound of a song.
