Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.87
यदि मे राघवः कुर्याद्वनं गच्छेति चोदितः।
प्रतिकूलं प्रियं मे स्यान्न तु वत्सः करिष्यति॥
yadi me rāghavaḥ kuryād vanaṁ gaccheti coditaḥ
pratikūlaṁ priyaṁ me syān na tu vatsaḥ kariṣyati
yadi = if; me = when I; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; kuryāt = to obey me; vanam = to the forest; gaccha iti = go; coditaḥ = request Him; pratikūlam = refuses; priyam = liking; me = to my; syāt = it will be; na = not; tu = but in reality; vatsaḥ = my child; kariṣyati = will do that.
If Rāghava refuses to obey me when I request Him, “Go to the forest,” it will be to my liking. But, in reality, my child will not do that.
