Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.94
प्रियं चेद्भरतस्यैतद्रामप्रव्राजनं भवेत्।
मा स्म मे भरतः कार्षीत्प्रेतकृत्यं गतायुषः॥
priyaṁ ced bharatasyaitad rāma-pravrājanaṁ bhavet
mā sma me bharataḥ kārṣīt preta-kṛtyaṁ gatāyuṣaḥ
priyam = pleased; cet = if; bharatasya = Bharata; etat = with this; rāma-pravrājanam = exile of Rāma; bhavet = is; mā sma = should not; me = my; bharataḥ = Bharata; kārṣīt = perform; preta-kṛtyam = funeral rites; gata-āyuṣaḥ = after I die.
If Bharata is pleased with this exile of Rāma, Bharata should not perform my funeral rites after I die.
