Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.98
कथं रथैर्विभुर्यात्वा गजाश्चैश्च मुहुर्मुहुः।
पद्ध्यां रामो महारण्ये वत्सो मे विचरिष्यति॥
kathaṁ rathair vibhur yātvā gajāśvaiś ca muhur muhuḥ
padbhyāṁ rāmo mahāraṇye vatso me vicariṣyati
katham = how; rathaiḥ = chariots; vibhuḥ = the capable; yātvā = who has gone on; gaja-aśvaiḥ ca = elephants and horses; muhuḥ muhuḥ = repeatedly; padbhyām = on foot; rāmaḥ = Rāma; mahā- araṇye = in the great forest; vatsaḥ = child; me = my; vicariṣyati = can wander about.
How can my child, the capable Rāma who has repeatedly gone on chariots, elephants and horses, wander about in the great forest on foot?
