Chapter 13: Kaikeyī Rejects Daśaratha’s Sorrowful Plea
Text 2.13.10
कथमिन्दीवरश्यामं दीर्घबाहुं महाबलम्।
अभिराममहं रामं प्रेषयिष्यामि दण्डकान्॥
katham indīvara-śyāmaṁ dīrgha-bāhuṁ mahā-balam
abhirāmam ahaṁ rāmaṁ preṣayiṣyāmi daṇḍakān
katham = how; indīvara-śyāmam = He is dark like an indīvara lotus; dīrgha-bāhum = His arms are long; mahā-balam = and He possesses great strength; abhirāmam = the pleasing; aham = I; rāmam = Rāma; preṣayiṣyāmi = can send; daṇḍakān = to the forests of Daṇḍaka.
How can I send the pleasing Rāma to the forests of Daṇḍaka? He is dark like an indīvara lotus. His arms are long and He possesses great strength.
