Chapter 14: Daśaratha Grants Kaikeyī her two Boons
Text 2.14.8
सत्यं समनुवर्तस्व यदि धर्मे धृता मतिः।
स वरः सफलो मेऽस्तु वरदो ह्यसि सत्तम॥
satyaṁ samanuvartasva yadi dharme dhṛtā matiḥ
sa varaḥ saphalo me ’stu varado hy asi sattama
satyam = to truthfulness; samanuvartasva = conform; yadi = if; dharme = on dharma; dhṛtā = is fixed; matiḥ = your mind; saḥ = those; varaḥ = boons; saphalaḥ = attain success; me = [given] to me; astu = may; varadaḥ = give the benedictions [you promise]; hi = indeed; asi = you; sattama = O most exalted one.
O most exalted one, conform to truthfulness if your mind is fixed on dharma. May those boons [given] to me attain success. Indeed, you give the benedictions [you promise].
