Chapter 14: Daśaratha Grants Kaikeyī her two Boons
Text 2.14.23
स नुन्न इव तीक्ष्णेन प्रतोदेन हयोत्तमः।
राजा प्रचोदितोऽभीक्ष्णं कैकेयीमिदमब्रवीत्॥
sa nunna iva tīkṣṇena pratodena hayottamaḥ
rājā pracodito ’bhīkṣṇaṁ kaikeyīm idam abravīt
saḥ = the; nunnaḥ = driven; iva = like; tīkṣṇena = by a sharp; pratodena = whip; haya-uttamaḥ = an excellent horse; rājā = king; pracoditaḥ = urged; abhīkṣṇam = repeatedly 3; kaikeyīm = to Kaikeyī; idam = the following; abravīt = spoke.
Repeatedly urged like an excellent horse driven by a sharp whip, the king spoke the following to Kaikeyī.
