Chapter 15: Daśaratha Personally Instructs Sumantra to Bring Rāma
Text 2.15.21
सोऽत्यासाद्य तु तद्वेश्म तिरस्करणिमन्तरा।
आशीर्भिर्गुणयुक्ताभिरभितुष्टाव राघवम्॥
so ’tyāsādya tu tad veśma tiraskaraṇim antarā
āśīrbhir guṇa-yuktābhir abhituṣṭāva rāghavam
saḥ = he; atyāsādya tu = walked through and placing himself; tat = the; veśma = house; tiraskaraṇim = a curtain; antarā = behind; āśīrbhiḥ = with benedictions; guṇa-yuktābhiḥ = endowed with auspiciousness; abhituṣṭāva = praised; rāghavam = that descendant of Raghu.
He walked through the house and placing himself behind a curtain, praised that descendant of Raghu with benedictions endowed with auspiciousness.
Sumantra came very close to the king in such a manner that there was only a curtain between him and the king.
