Chapter 15: Daśaratha Personally Instructs Sumantra to Bring Rāma
Text 2.15.23
यथा साङ्गाश्च वेदा वै ब्रह्माणं बोधयन्ति ते।
तथा त्वां धीर बोध्यामि ह्युत्तिष्ठ पुरुषर्षभ॥
yathā sāṅgāś ca vedā vai brahmāṇaṁ bodhayanti te
tathā tvāṁ dhīra bodhyāmi hy uttiṣṭha puruṣa-rṣabha
yathā = just as; sa-aṅgāḥ = Vedāṅgas; ca = and other Vedic scriptures; vedāḥ vai = Vedas; brahmāṇam = Brahmā; bodhayanti = wake up and inform [about everything pertaining to creation]; te = the; tathā tvām = you; dhīra = O sober; bodhyāmi hi = I wake up; uttiṣṭha = please wake up; puruṣa-rṣabha = king.
O sober king, I wake you up just as the Vedas, Vedāṅgas and other Vedic scriptures wake up and inform Brahmā [about everything pertaining to creation]. Please wake up!
