Chapter 16: Rāma Passes Through the Grand Road to Meet Daśaratha

तानुवाच विनीतात्मा सूतपुत्रः प्रदक्षिणः।
क्षिप्रमाख्यात रामाय सुमन्त्रो द्वारि तिष्ठति॥
tān uvāca vinītātmā sūta-putraḥ pradakṣiṇaḥ
kṣipram ākhyāta rāmāya sumantro dvāri tiṣṭhati
tān = them; uvāca = he told; vinīta-ātmā = was a humble soul; sūta-putraḥ = Sumantra, the son of a charioteer; pradakṣiṇaḥ = and very expert in service; kṣipram = quickly; ākhyāta = inform; rāmāya = Rāma; sumantraḥ = that Sumantra; dvāri = by the door; tiṣṭhati = stands.
Sumantra, the son of a charioteer, was a humble soul and very expert in service. He told them, “Quickly inform Rāma that Sumantra stands by the door.”
